Which perfumes does it know?

Any bottle with its name on the bottle or the box. That includes the houses the big catalogues often miss.

What if the photo is unclear?

The app tells you when it is not sure and asks you to confirm. You can always type the name yourself.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in the browser on iPhone and Android.
